Located in a quiet rural river valley near Marton on New Zealand's North Island, this 33-foot long yellow submarine was lovingly crafted from upcycled materials including an old grain silo, spa bath, and milking shed. The interior features a whimsical steampunk lounge with nautical details including portholes, an antique diving helmet, a bulkhead door, and even a working periscope. Walls are adorned with murals, statues, and neon lights creating a playful atmosphere, while a John Lennon mannequin keeps you company. Despite its compact exterior, the submarine comfortably sleeps four guests and includes a full kitchen and bathroom. Anchored in a sea of green between towering redwood trees, it's about 30 minutes from Palmerston North and Wanganui, and two hours from Wellington. Note: there's no cell phone or internet service onboard—a refreshing digital detox.
