A brutalist Soviet building transformed into one of the world's most dramatically located design hotels, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the 5,047m peak of Mount Kazbek.
Rooms Hotel Kazbegi is a masterclass in transformation. What was once a tired Soviet ski resort has been reimagined by Tbilisi designers Nata Janberidze and Keti Toloraia into a 156-room design hotel that celebrates both its brutalist bones and the jaw-dropping Caucasus landscape.
Every element is considered. Floors and furniture are crafted from 150-year-old local oak. The lobby's vast windows frame Mount Kazbek like a living painting. The indoor pool offers the surreal experience of swimming towards a 5,000-metre peak through floor-to-ceiling glass.
The restaurant serves refined Georgian cuisine paired with organic Qvevri wines - made in ancient clay vessels using 8,000-year-old methods. Outside, the terrace is the best seat in Georgia for watching clouds swirl around Kazbek's glaciated summit. The 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church perches impossibly on a ridge nearby, reachable by hiking or hotel-arranged 4x4.
This is where Soviet monumentalism meets Scandinavian minimalism, wrapped in Georgian hospitality.
